Facility Assistant

Sunnyvale, CA (On-site)

Fluxus Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and well organized part-time (non-exempt) Facility Assistant to support the Facilities group.

This person will be responsible for maintaining inventories of the two kitchens – ensuring that they are stocked with snacks, meals and drinks, and assisting with the ordering, receiving and stocking of lab materials and consumables. Additionally, they will help with daily housekeeping in the lab and event preparations, including arranging furniture and managing other aspects of the facility’s layout, while also performing related tasks as needed.

Working hours: 20-25 hours per week.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Kitchens: take inventory of food & drink supplies, and assist with ordering new inventory (meals, snack & drinks), restocking both kitchens, and keeping items organized, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Set up seating for onsite company-wide meetings when needed.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries, answering entrance doors and greeting guests.
  • Submit work orders with landlord on case-by-case basis
  • Laboratory:
    1. Organize the consumables storage room to facilitate easy access to materials as well as rapid & accurate inventory checking. Check stock of consumables (gloves, tips, pipettes, etc.), assist with ordering new inventory, receive, unpack and stock the consumables and discard cardboard boxes & packaging.
    2. Assist with housekeeping in the lab: empty and seal trash boxes and move to storage satellite; schedule trash removal from accumulation satellite by company contractor, maintain lab coats inventory; schedule lab coats cleaning with contractor; track and schedule yearly maintenance of major lab equipment with maintenance contractors.

Qualifications

  • Some prior experience in maintenance or facilities is helpful but not required.
  • Good organization and planning skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to handle unanticipated situations calmly and proficiently.
  • A can-do attitude. Someone who is proactive and curious and does not require constant direction or guidance once they’ve learned the task at hand.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), teamwork, problem-solving, and attention to detail are crucial.
  • Some duties may require the ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Some college or trade school is desirable
